Matthew's Crossing Food Bank

Our History and Statistics

In 2001, Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church recognized a need within the community. That need was supplying food for the hungry families. With the help of 3 volunteers, Saint Matthew's Food Bank was established. In 2005, the church determined that the food bank had grown to a capacity and that it needed to be independent from the church and become a secular organization.

Matthew's Crossing was formed and became a 501(c)(3) community based non-profit organization serving the working poor. From its humble beginnings of serving 800 people in its first year, Matthew's Crossing Food Bank currently serves over 78,000 people in need each year, with the help and dedication of over 70 regular volunteers and 150 seasonal volunteers working to fulfill its mission.

Matthew's Crossing served over 78,000 clients in 2016.  Over 19,000 food boxes were given out to families in need.  More than 5,500 people are served EACH month and unfortunately more families are in need each year.  1 in 4 children, 1 in 5 adults and 1 in 7 seniors struggle daily with hunger.

Thank you to our volunteers and donors for helping us serve those in need.
