EMERGENCY FOOD BOX DISTRIBUTION

Any family or individual in need of food assistance can present a photo ID and register with Matthew’s Crossing to receive (1) Emergency Food Box EVERY 14 DAYS. Emergency Food Boxes are comprised of nutritionally balanced fresh & non-perishable foods, designed to feed a family for up to three days.

When available, perishable items will be included and may include: bread, milk, meat, fresh produce, and bakery items. Items in the Emergency Food Boxes may include: pasta, rice, beans, canned fruits and vegetables, soup, cereal, dry milk, and canned meats.

meals to grow weekend backpacks

Helping students start the weekend with enough to eat, Meals to Grow provides nutritious, easy-to-prepare food for students to take home and enjoy throughout the weekend.

Weekend Backpack Food Bags. Each backpack is thoughtfully filled with 11 nutritious, student-friendly items that are easy to prepare and designed to help provide meals and snacks throughout the weekend. Matthew’s Crossing volunteers carefully pack each backpack and deliver them weekly to more than 110 schools across the East Valley, where they are distributed to students before the weekend.

On average, Meals to Grow volunteers pack 1,300 backpacks every week, helping ensure that students have access to food beyond the school week and can return to school ready to learn, grow, and thrive.

MEALS TO GROW FOOD CLOSETS

The Meals to Grow Food Closets are located on local school campuses, providing convenient access to food for students and their families. Each week, volunteers deliver and restock these closets with nutritious items to ensure support is available throughout the school week. This program allows students and families to access food assistance in a familiar and accessible environment.

SENIOR FOOD BOXES

Offered monthly, senior food boxes are available to qualified registered individuals 60 years and older. Each box averages 20 pounds of food and is in addition to the emergency food boxes. We distribute 90 senior food boxes every month at our Matthew’s Crossing location.

MOBILE MARKETPLACE

Once a month, we work with community partners and have fresh food pop-up distributions in the community, people can receive fresh food and pantry goods.

Previous pop-ups have been at Hartford Elementary School, Gavelston Elementary School, San Marcos Elementary School, Boys & Girls Club – Guadalupe, and Boys & Girls Club – Gilbert.

HOLIDAY FOOD BOXES

During the holiday months, Matthew’s Crossing provides special food boxes to families celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Each box includes a turkey or ham along with a variety of traditional side dishes to help families prepare a meaningful holiday meal together. Holiday food boxes are provided subject to availability.
